Chaat (Aloo Tikki Chaat)

Aloo Tikki Chaat is one of the most beloved street foods in Uttar Pradesh. Crisp potato patties topped with tangy tamarind chutney, mint chutney, yogurt, and spices make this snack a burst of flavors in every bite.

Ingredients:

For Aloo Tikki:

  • 4 medium potatoes (boiled and mashed)
  • 1/4 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp garam masala
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for shallow frying

For Chaat Toppings:

  • Tamarind chutney
  • Mint-coriander chutney
  • 1 cup yogurt (whisked with a pinch of sugar)
  • 1 tsp chaat masala
  • 1 tsp roasted cumin powder
  • Sev (fried gram flour noodles)
  • Pomegranate seeds for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Make the Tikkis: Combine mashed potatoes, bread crumbs, and spices. Shape into small patties and shallow fry until golden and crispy.
  2. Assemble the Chaat: Place tikkis on a plate. Top with tamarind chutney, mint chutney, yogurt, chaat masala, and cumin powder.
  3. Garnish and serve: Sprinkle sev and pomegranate seeds. Serve immediately.
