Mirchi Vada

Mirchi Vada is a spicy and crunchy street snack where large green chilies are stuffed with a tangy potato filling, coated in gram flour batter, and deep-fried to perfection.

Ingredients:

  • 6 large green chilies (mildly spicy, like Bhavnagri chilies)
  • 2 large potatoes (boiled and mashed)
  • 1/2 tsp cumin seeds
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp red chili powder
  • 1/4 tsp amchur (dry mango powder)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 cup gram flour (besan)
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • Water to make batter
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Filling: Mix mashed potatoes, cumin seeds, turmeric, red chili, amchur, and salt.
  2. Stuff the Chilies: Slit the chilies and remove seeds. Fill them with the potato mixture.
  3. Prepare the Batter: Mix gram flour, baking soda, salt, and water to form a thick batter.
  4. Fry the Vadas: Dip stuffed chilies in the batter and deep fry until golden.
  5. Serve: Enjoy hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
